ato- Spring/Summer 2010 - Studs Velcro High Cut Sneakers

It’s a studded affair with Ato Matsumoto’s footwear and apparel line, ato, for Spring/Summer 2010. Since ato had been spotted on famed celeb feet such as Kanye West (whose own Nike Air Yeezy is redolent of the ato velcro hi-top sneakers), the designer’s penchant for high drama in shoes has garnered a loyal and loving following outside Japan. Among his work, the designer’s signature Velcro Hi-Cut Sneakers with a generous silhouette and futuristic styling encompassed in the use of thick Velcro straps. Like the other ato sneakers, these are crafted from supple cowhide and dressed in a lavish wash of tough studs in varying shapes on tongue, Vecro straps and toe. The tonal black sneakers sport the signature “a” patch on their sides and carry a more subtle sense of rock and roll than other highly glamorous studded sneaker counterparts from Diet Butcher Slim Skin. These kicks were first previewed on WWD and had raised a lot of interests within the industry. Finally, these are now available for all to purchase and peruse via Rowgage.

This Is Not A Polo Shirt Collection by Band of Outsiders

Contemporary menswear brand Band of Outsiders presents a new line of polo shirts under the moniker This Is Not A Polo Shirt. The line features a wide array of different colorways, styles, and material choices. Among the highlights are pieces crafted alongside A-Girls in Wakayama, Japan, utilizing one of two knitting machines in the world that can knit a super high-gauge cotton pique, a fabric that despite its light and ultra-thin quality will hold its shape through many washes. The full collection can now be pre-ordered here, with a release set for January 20th, 2010.

COMME des GARÇONS BLACK - Holiday 2009

Rei Kawakubo is never quite one to shy away from the element of surprise, in fact, COMME des GARÇONS as an entirety thrives on being the odd one out and celebrates creativity with bravado. For the temporary and wallet friendly diffusion line, COMME des GARÇONS BLACK which was launched earlier this year, COMME des GARÇONS takes the most interesting plays on the classic non-color, black, and puts an incredible spin on basics. For Holiday 2009, COMME des GARÇONS takes some of this year’s favorite items such as the plaid button down and nautical striped tees, and re-brands them in black. Unlike your usual fades and color blocks, the items look like it has been defaced deliberately in black, but without success as the plaid and stripes are still visible through a wash of black. Striped tees have a translucent overlay of black, and the bottom part of the tees remain untouched to reveal what the original pattern looks like. The same goes for plaid button downs that come in a variety of shades. Count on Rei Kawakubo to put the simplest touches on items but turn out something unexpected– put a spin on your usual basic tops and pick up a conversation worthy piece this holiday.

A Bathing Ape- Sta Foil Full Zip Hoodie

One of the iconic graphics created by A Bathing Ape is the Sta (star) graphic that originally made a debut on the Bapesta sneakers however since its initial application, the Sta graphic has transcended onto various items including this hoodie. This Sta Foil Full Zip Hoodie is a simple design that is self explanatory by its name with Sta pattern printed all over the hoodie in metallic foil print in gold on black body or silver on navy body. Detailed with custom BAPE zip pull in silver color and Ape face label on the left sleeve as usual.

Jeremy Scott x Tangueray - Gin Tangueray No. 10 Par Jeremy Scott

After adidas Originals, Jeremy Scott takes his happy pop designs over to the wild side with gin label, Tangueray, to prep the world for New Year’s parties. Scott’s Gin Tangueray No. 10 Par Jeremy Scott edition re-sculpted the roomy cylindrical green bottle in a multi-faceted angled bottle in style of a crystal rod. The bottle comes in an elegant black casing which opens up to reveal a busy cheerful print of olives against a bright yellow background in signature Jeremy Scott style (remember the mickey mouse eared one shoulder dress?). Get your tonic ready and party it up with Jeremy Scott and Tangueray (caveat: as the special edition bottle is limited to one order per account on colette, we suggest clicking over early if this is a part of your party plan).

Ambush x A Bathing Ape: Kaiju Collection

Extroverts Verbal and Yoon’s label Ambush have joined forces with a Bathing Ape to produce this jacket, shoes and complementary accessories. Performing as Dr. Octagon, Kool Keith created the half-shark-half-alligator-man image and the Japanese designers have realised it. As with previous Bape jackets, this one is split in half – one half takes familiar shark form with the other taking a similarly styled (and fully ‘ambushed’) alligator, which is complete with an Ambush eye and scales over the body. Alongside the jacket, are these Baby Milo rings and a Bape head necklace; both have also been mutated, with Milo’s head being cut to reveal his brain, and with the Bape head being melted. The latter is available in a range of both single and two-tone colourways. As you can see, further accessories along the same theme have also been created, as has this new partially-woven shoe. Again available in prominent colourways, the lace up shoe appears clean, with only a small Bapesta logo on the side-heel. The Kaiju (Japanese for ‘strange beast) mini collection will available Spring 2010.

Dope Couture x Melody Ehsani Necklace & Three Finger Ring

Dope Couture and Melody Ehsani take a page out of Verbal’s book to design some conspicuous neon jewelry. A bit more moderately priced than the Ambush line, Dope Couture offers a pair of three finger rings, and pendant chains in the same vein. So as it turns out you don’t even need to be a thousand-aire to get some couture, as long as it’s dope.

Dior Homme M.Y Sneaker Customization

We come once again back to Dior Homme today. Even though we are a little late with the news, we still find it worth noting. Over the past weekend the brand’s Paris flagship store offered sneaker customization on their low top sneaker. One had the possibility to add their initials to the tongue of the sneaker. It is interesting seeing high fashion brands taking note of the developments in sportswear.

Gucci Eyeweb Goggles

The winter sports season is upon us, and many a weekend from now until March will be spent careening down the slopes, so why not do it in style and have something rad to match your Gucci Dunks while you sip coco in the lodge.

Moncler Opens Shanghai Boutique

Moncler continues to open boutique doors in new markets outside of Europe. Following up on their Hong Kong shop, which complemented their London, Milan, and Paris shops. “Designed by the Gilles & Boissier architecture studio, the Shanghai boutique in Plaza 66 covers an area of 130 m² and recalls the DNA of the Moncler brand in its conception, whilst at the same time giving it a contemporary-luxury twist… Two large windows open into the Moncler world, emphasised by French panelling in carved wood with floral relief motifs. It is a welcoming look which is in stark contrast with the glass used for the central counter and the pierre bleu used for the walls and floor.”

Nike Air Carnivore - Summer 2010

Nike is set to re-release the Air Carnivore, a sneaker that is popular among collectors of original models of unique kicks from yesteryear. This early 90s look is highlighted by the huge midfoot straps and teal and purple color palatte. The midsole is molded in the center and part of the forefoot midsole is a striped, zebra-ish pattern. One major highlight of the sneaker is the Huarache-styled neoprene sock that goes up mega-high on the heel and wraps around with a strap that connects to the sole. With the fury or retro releases, this is sure to be a huge release when it drops in the spring of 2010. Stay tuned for more detailed release information.
